The Responsibilities of Shareholders

The owners of a company are called the shareholders or the stockholders; shares represent ownership of a Company. When a Company is  formed it is possible to select both the number of shares that will exist and the number that are issued.

Shareholders are responsible for ensuring the long-term strength of a Company by electing a board of directors to provide guidance and leadership and to establish strategic goals. Shareholders can vote in person at the annual meeting or by a proxy vote through the mail.

A shareholder’s responsibility is to provide the Company with a current address for receiving Company  information to allow the Company to maintain a complete and accurate shareholder record.
